Island House – Isla Mujeres, Mexico
2009 – Feasibility Study
Concept design for a house and gallery in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The 3500m2 site sits in the southern end of the island, within a low density residential area. The natural beauty of the place attracts a considerable number of visitors from around the world, so the brief was to create a space which could be rented for most of the year, but could also double up as a personal sanctuary for the owners for a few weeks every year.
The project is designed to respond to the ocean views and will incorporate retractable and foldable shutters to protect the large windows during hurricane season.
